General Election 2020: Hearing of FR petitions begins

Hearing of the Fundamental Rights Petitions filed challenging the Gazzette Notifications issued by the Election Commission declaring that the General Election 2020 will be held on 20th June has begun for a second day today (19th) 
The petitions are heard before the five member judge bench consisting of Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya and Justice Buwaneka Aluwihare, Sisira De Abrew, Priyantha Jayawardena and Vijith Malalgoda.
On behalf of Attorney General, Additional Solicitor General Indika Demuni De Silva has filed the preliminary objections against these petitions while  president's counsel A Sumanthiran made oral presentations yesterday (18) over the FR petition filed by Attorney Charitha Gunaratne.
