No Rs. 5000 allowance for June; Retirement age for doctors raised to 61

COLOMBO (News 1st): Cabinet has decided not to provide the Rs. 5000/- allowance for June based on the position taken by National Elections Commission.
The cabinet decision was announced by Co-Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Bandula Gunawardena at a media briefing at the Department of Government Information today.
Meanwhile, Co-Cabinet Spokesperson Ramesh Pathirana said the Cabinet has decided to raise the retirement age for doctors to 61 years.
“Committee would explore the possibility of raising the retirement age of other public sector employees as well,” said Min. Ramesh Pathirana.
